Step by step: here's how to install the BluFilter 1011 or 2011 in your pond. You'll see how to click the filter lid shut, assemble the fountain set with riser pipe and fountain head, set up the outflow and control knobs for a waterfall or stream, and check whether the UV-C lamp is lit.

The two installation options
You can set up the BluFilter in two ways: with the fountain set on it, or with the outflow going straight to a waterfall or back into the pond.

Close the filter lid
Make sure the filter lid is on the BluFilter and simply click it shut. Then choose which output you'll assemble.

Assemble the fountain set
Fit the switch valve onto the BluFilter.
Put the fountain head on the riser pipe and adjust the height so the riser pipe comes above the water surface.
Choose one of the three included fountain heads: unscrew the fitted head and screw on the one you want.

Set up the outflow and control knobs
Install the outflow on the side of the control knob.
Use the control knobs to divide how much capacity goes to the fountain and how much to the output.

Connect a pond hose
For a waterfall or stream, slide a 25 mm pond hose over the outflow, fit it tightly, and add a hose clamp around it if needed. The hose isn't included as standard.

Install without a fountain
If you don't want to use the fountain set, fit the connector instead of the fountain set or the outflow. The output then goes straight into the pond, or you attach the hose coupling to it.

Check the UV-C lamp
Look through the inspection window to see whether the UV-C lamp is lit: in the dark, or with your hands cupped around it, you'll see a blue light. Replace the lamp after about a year, in other words, one season.

How do I know if the UV-C lamp is working?
You check this through the inspection window. In the dark, or with your hands cupped around it, you'll clearly see a blue light appear. If you see that, you know for sure the lamp is working.
How often should I replace the UV lamp?
After about a year, or roughly one season. The lamp then works less effectively and fights less algae, so we recommend replacing it every year.
