Extra inlet connections for pond pump with hose tail

Extra inlet connections for pond pump with hose tail

Set up the pond water intake for a dry-installed pond pump with an extra hose tail. Simply connect an inlet pond hose to this hose tail. The pump then ensures that the water is powerfully pumped up or circulated.

Do you want to use a skimmer or bottom drain for your pond? You can easily connect it to the hose tail of a dry-installed pond pump using a pond hose.

Dry-Installed Pond Pumps: Flexibility and Efficiency

A dry-installed pond pump offers an efficient solution for moving water without the need for submersion. Instead of the traditional in-pond setup, the pond pump is installed outside the pond. This allows for easier access for maintenance and cleaning. This setup is ideal for ponds with limited space, when you want to keep the pump out of sight, or if the intake comes from a skimmer or bottom drain.

Why Choose a Dry-Installed Pond Pump?

Dry-installed pond pumps offer several advantages over submersible pumps:

  • With dry installation, you can connect the pond pump to a skimmer or bottom drain directly to the pond pump's hose fitting.
  • Dry installation allows you to easily place the pump in a technical pit or cabinet, protecting it from the elements.
  • You can easily access the pump for adjustments or maintenance since it is installed outside the pond. No more 'fishing' for the pump.
  • Prevents electrical devices from being in the pond. Placing the pump at a safe distance (at least 2 meters) from the pond ensures that voltage poses no danger to pond life.

Easy Installation and Flexibility

A dry-installed pond pump can be easily integrated into existing pond systems. Whether you have a gravity-fed pond or need a pump that draws water from a skimmer or pre-filter, these pumps offer maximum flexibility. They are also highly suitable for larger ponds and koi ponds, where powerful water circulation is essential for a healthy environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does dry installation mean for a pond pump?

When you install a pond pump 'dry', it means you place it outside the pond instead of inside. The water does not pass through the filter basket into the pump, but is fed to the pump by means of a pond hose. A pump suitable for dry installation always includes an inlet hose connection to connect the pond pump. The pond pump must always be supplied with pond water and must not run dry.

What is a dry-run protection?

When you set up a pond pump dry, it can happen that it runs dry. This can damage the pump. A dry-run protection ensures that the pump switches itself off when running dry. This prevents damage to the pump. Are you setting up the pond pump dry above the water level? Then choose a pond pump with dry-run protection.

Are dry-mounted pond pumps self-priming?

When you place a pond pump in a dry setup, it means that you place it outside the pond, not in the pond. Dry-mounted pond pumps should always be placed below the water level because they are not self-priming. For example, if your water level is 20cm below the ground, the pump should also be placed at least 20cm below ground level. This ensures that the pump does not run dry easily. When starting the pump, make sure that the supply pond hose is filled with water. This prevents the pond pump from running dry.
